What does “non-competitive” mean?
Dance It Up! is a non-competitive dance studio, which means we do not focus instruction and training on dance competitions. Rather, Dance It Up! focuses on nurturing fundamental skills, technique and the love of dance to empower and stimulate the minds and bodies of young dancers.

At Dance It Up!, we allow our dancers the opportunity for creative development without the stress, pressures and costly expenditures of the competition world.

Dance It Up! prides itself on giving multiple performance opportunities without the pressure of being on a competitive team. Through our performance groups, dedicated dancers and students are able to balance school work while sharing their passion for dance.

When should my child begin dance classes?
Our non-competitive model allows children to join age-based classes regardless of experience. We offer ongoing enrollment throughout the dance season.
Instruction starts as early as 2.5 years old with Dance ‘N Play®, our copyright registered preschool dance program.

This program was developed in 2005 to introduce and instill a love of movement and music in a stimulating and imaginative space. The unique program allows the youngest of dancers to develop gross motor skills and social independence at their own pace through the use of props, costumes, music, lighting and creative movement in a safe, nurturing environment.

Are parents allowed to observe classes?
The studio has waiting-room area(s) for parents. This allows our younger dancers to work on self-sufficiency while still providing them the reassurance that their guardian is waiting right outside.

Waiting area(s) are furnished and decorated. We offer guest WiFi access.
What does my child need to wear to dance class?
Proper dance attire is required in order to participate in class. This is both for comfort and safety reasons.

Should my son take dance?
Yes, dance is for all children! Fun classes provide the opportunity to learn coordination, rhythm, and an appreciation for the arts. Dance will help build a strong and healthy body.

When and where are your performances held?
Performances are held at a local performance venue. In early December, we present our unique interpretation of the Nutcracker. In early spring, Our World is Dancing features our performance groups.
Our annual Spring Dance Recital for levels Intro - Senior is held in early June.
Do you offer private lessons?

Yes - but please keep reading! Class lessons are the best way for your child to grow and learn in a group setting. Positive learning and work habits are formed through observation, cooperation, active participation and teamwork that we encourage in all our classes.

Should your dancer miss any classes and require some “catch-up” time, private lessons are available.

Adult private lessons are also available. Please contact the studio office directly to schedule private lessons.
When will my dancer begin pointe training?

Pointe work training will be made at the discretion of the Ballet Director, determined by a number of factors, including whether or not the student has the necessary strength, focus and dedication.
For students en pointe, transitioning to en pointe, or considering pointe work, we offer a Ballet Tech class to be taken in addition to a weekly ballet class.
